Shani Jarrett is on a mission to close the informational gap amongst women, LGBTQ+ people, and members of racial and ethnic minority groups. She understands the nation’s expanding wealth gap within these groups and is passionate about leveling the playing field in these communities. Graduating 2001 summa cum laude from Florida A & M University with a degree in Biological Sciences and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Early on in life, a sudden tragedy made her make a decision that would change directions, and education, moving away from pre-med and transitioning into law. During her senior year of college, Attorney Jarrett was faced with the sudden death of her father. As countless other families have experienced, she and her family were grappling with not only the uncertainty and volatility of grief, but also the ramifications of dying intestate. She began attending Chicago-Kent College of Law on academic scholarship and graduating with Labor & Employment Law Certificate, Institute of Law and Workplace Scholar, and went on to win the Cook County Bar Association Ralph Stringer and Balance Alexander Award. Shani Jarrett legal career started as a Guardian Ad Litem with the Office of the Cook County Public Guardian to represent abused and neglected children. Moving on to managing partner in a highly sought after transactional law firm in Mount Prospect, IL and later a senior attorney for the national firm Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson LLP.

Britney has been admitted to the practice of law in 2020 passing the UBE Bar. She received her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University Chicago School of Law where she focused on family law and advocacy. During her time in law school, she was an active participant and board member of many organizations and teams including her stead as the National Secretary for the National Black Law Students Association during their 50th anniversary year and mentoring high school students in the Street Law program. Britney began her journey in family law during her teenage years when her grandparents adopted her and her twin sister. From that time on Britney focused on building skills to provide effective and empathetic counsel and advocacy to her clients. At Northern Illinois University she graduated with a degree in Sociology and Minor in Women’s Studies focusing on qualitative research and children’s rights and continues to focus on a thorough understanding of the ever-changing legal system to best help her clients. In her free time, Britney enjoys various physical and mental pursuits and is an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
